The purpose of the initiative is to provide small amounts of targeting funding to enhance the intellectual activity and research capability of clusters of UCSB scholars working on topics related to globalization, global themes and processes, international studies, or area studies issues as they transcend regional and cultural boundaries, emphasizing interdisciplinarity and cross-departmental collaboration.
