Global Security

The Interdisciplinary Research Hub on Global Security brings together scholars from across the social sciences, humanities, sciences and public health to examine contemporary issues of security, risk, conflict, humanitarian intervention, militarization and disaster management.  Our aim is to develop interdisciplinary forms of public engagement and new research methods to explore a wide range of intersecting issues of risk society, armed actors, protection discourse, epidemic response, disaster management, humanitarian intervention, piracy media, etc, in their political, historical, technological, cultural, race/gender/sexuality, and institutional forms, as well as the configuration of security/insecurity by popular imaginaries, mobilizations of resistance, structures of mass media, propaganda apparatuses, or in fictional forms.
